Supporting victim survivors with disability
Supporting victim survivors with disability
Approximately 4.3 million Australians – nearly one in five people – have a disability.
People with a disability experience higher levels of violence than the broader population and often experience violence in ways that are specific to their disability. Research shows they also stay in abusive relationships for longer periods, and have fewer options to reach safety.
This section of The Lookout features information, tips, tools and resources for specialist family violence practitioners, to support positive change and break down barriers to service access for people with disability.
