If you work in the community, health, legal, justice or education sectors, it’s likely because you want to help people or you want to be a part of solving social issues. Hearing about abuse, oppression and violence can take a mental, emotional and sometimes physical toll – even if responding to family violence is not the main function of your role.
If you are a worker who is also a family violence survivor, there may be an additional risk of being triggered and re-traumatised. See the section on survivors as employees for further information and support.
If you are an employer, download the Workplace Family Violence Policy Template for more information on policies and procedures to support your workforce and their response to family violence.
